Welcome to the "Know-How" area at 3D-Glow.de. You will find some useful hints and tutorials about computer generated 2D & 3D graphics here (mainly CINEMA 4D & BodyPaint 3D related things).

Sometimes it's useful or even necessary to know how many polygons and vertices your model or scene has. Unfortunately CINEMA 4D has no built-in function to count and display this data.

Here's one way to find it out using CINEMA 4D R9.x / R10:

Group all of your objects in the Object Manager. Right-click the grouped (root) object and select "Current state to object" from the context-menu. This will convert all NURBS-based objects to real polygonal objects. A copy of your group (with the same name) should appear under the original group in the Object Manager.

Now right click on this new group and select "Select children" (this will select all objects inside the group). Finally, you right-click that group again and select "Connect" from the menu. A new, single object will appear in the Object Manager containing all geometry of your objects/scene.

Click on it in the Object Manager to select it and open the Structure Manager window. Scroll down within the Structure Manager window to the last line => The first field of the last line tells you how many points/polygons your scene has. You can switch from point to polygon mode using the Mode-menu of the Structure Manager.

Maybe there's an easier way to get this done, but I haven't found anything suitable yet.
